224 was born from a lifelong craving for authenticity, and a desire to capture modern love in a way that’s often felt, but rarely shown.
Some things stick with you for life. For me, that’s what 224 has always been. Inspired by an artist who’s had a deep influence on me from the start– my dad. His lucky number 224 has been a symbol that’s followed him throughout his life - a symbol that’s naturally seeped into my own, with a tendency to show up serendipitously. Growing up surrounded by music, fascinating people, and creative synergy, and the synthesis of method and chaos was always going to leave a mark.
Now – 224 has come to represent the power of art as a way of doing. It’s engrained in everything we do, whether it’s capturing a blistering sunset, or chasing down your rogue uncle who’s pocketed the better part of the canapes table, everything we do is led by feeling. Life’s too short to do it any other way.
It runs deeper.
Our ethos is about finding the art in the moment - whatever it takes. It’s about being drawn to the feeling, and being informed by technique but never governed by it. Blending documentary photography, with an editorial edge, we’ll always capture something unexpected that feels undeniably true to you.
For us, film has that ethos ingrained in its DNA. It feels like a part of your moment, because it was there – taking it all in, and burned into the celluloid from the moment we pressed the shutter. It feels more real, because it is.
Story is everything.
Over a decade of chasing stories and shaping feelings has honed a unique approach to capturing people, and the narratives that surround them. 224 is a creative vision led by filmmaker and photographer Rory Pippan, blending documentary nerve with editorial guts.
Years of capturing everything from music videos that have amassed hundreds of millions of views, to genre-shifting commercial work, and raw documentary pieces has taught us that the craft is always important, but finding the story that moves people is everything.
